Many people take CBD oil as a preventative measure. Whilst they have no health problems, they use CBD oil to prevent illnesses before they happen.
Many people also claim CBD oil keeps them younger. This has many people asking, does CBD oil slow ageing?
Rather than take peoples word for it, we need to see what science says about CBD oil and ageing…
Scientific Studies On CBD Oil And Ageing
CBD oil is well known to to have anti inflammatory properties. This helps relax your skin so fine lines and wrinkles don’t show as easily. This helps you appear younger looking, and also helps prevent more wrinkles from forming.
CBD oil has been scientifically shown to have antioxidant properties to keep your brain young…
This following study in 1998 described the antioxidant properties of CBD Oil. It stated – “The potency of cannabidiol as an antioxidant was examined by comparing it on an equimolar basis with other commonly used antioxidants. Cannabidiol protected neurons to a greater degree than either of the dietary antioxidants, α-tocopherol or ascorbate.” https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC20965/
This following study in 2012 showed that mice bred without CB-1 receptors showed an increase in skin ageing and a reduction in cognitive function, than mice bred with CB-1 receptors. This demonstrates the importance of endocannabinoids for keeping the skin and brain healthy – https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0197458010003179
Also the omega-3 and omega-6 oils found in CBD oil have also been shown to be beneficial to prevent skin ageing and hair loss…
This 2012 study on mice showed that mice given CBD oil showed an increase in skin thickness, improved collagen fibre texture, and an increase in the number of hair follicles – http://en.cnki.com.cn/Article_en/CJFDTOTAL-ZSFX201209063.htm
Also, check out this newspaper article and video. It talks about how CBD oil might improve peoples memory and learning later in life – Cannabis ‘could reverse ageing process’ after THC found to improve memory and learning in older mice
Whilst more research on humans is needed, these studies show the exciting prospect of CBD oil in reducing ageing.
In fact CBD shows so much promise that the US government filed a patent in 1999 , stating that cannaboids are “useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.” http://www.google.co.uk/patents/US6630507
There also appears to be the potential for CBD oil to help brain ageing too.
This all demonstrates the exciting potential for CBD oil to help reduce ageing and keep you young!
