What Is CBD?

What is CBD? CBD is one of the 113 known cannabinoids found naturally in the cannabis plant. CBD does NOT give the user a psychoactive “high” unlike THC, which is also found in the cannabis plant.

CBD is the part best known for it’s therapeutic qualities. It is best known to help with ailments, such as pain, depression, and anxiety. CBD is also an anti-inflammatory, so it’s thought to help prevent organ damage, rheumatoid arthritis, types I and II diabetes, atherosclerosis, Alzheimer’s, hypertension, the metabolic syndrome, and neuropathic pain – https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3085542

So far only sparse human trials have been conducted. However the signs look promising that CBD could also help with many other health issues.

All humans and animals have an endocannabinoid system. This is a huge network of receptors and cannabis-like chemicals (endocannabinoids). These regulate vital functions such as sleep, mood, appetite, memory, inflammation and reproduction. Sometimes this system becomes depleted. Scientists believe this may contribute towards certain illnesses. Research shows that taking CBD creates higher levels of your own endocannabinoids, helping your body to restore balance.

CBD is usually extracted without the THC component, or only trace amounts. This means you receive the health benefits without getting high. For this reason, CBD is legal in most territories. Check out your local laws if you’re unsure.

Also research has shown that CBD does NOT convert into THC in the body – https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29285522

You are also likely to pass a drugs test if you take CBD, as most only test for THC. But check that your CBD oil doesn’t contain THC.

CBD is usually extracted in an oil form. This oil can be vaped, placed in drops under your tongue, or consumed in “edibles” such as gummies or cookies.

More research is needed about CBD oil, but many people report significant boosts to their over all health when taking CBD oil. Also many specific ailments are improved for many CBD oil users.

So if you have a specific health issue, or want to prevent illnesses before they occur, CBD oil is well worth considering.
