THC or tetrahydrocannabinol is one of many cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. THC is the cannabinoid that is known to give you a psychoactive “high”. All the other cannabinoids, such as CBD, can be taken without feeling high.
Most CBD oils contain little if any THC. This ensures that the user receives therapeutic benefit without getting high.
Effects Of THC
The effects of THC vary between people as there body chemistry varies. However there are some fairly standard effects, both positive and negative.
From a positive standpoint, THC often promotes relaxation, pain relief and enhanced creativity. THC creates euphoria by stimulating the cells in your brain which releases dopamine.
From a negative standpoint THC can impair your memory, cause dizziness, and cause paranoia. THC is also thought to trigger some schizophrenic symptoms.
Cannabinoid receptors are concentrated in certain areas of your brain associated with thinking, memory, pleasure, coordination and time perception. THC attaches to these receptors and activates them. This affects your memory, pleasure, movements, thinking, concentration, coordination, and sensory and time perception.
Legality of THC
There are big differences in the law between different places in the world. However most still outlaw oil containing high amounts of THC.
In most territories such as the UK and US, CBD oil must contain 0.3% THC or less in order to be legal. This small amount will not get you high. However it is possible to fail a drugs test if you are a heavy user of such CBD oil. (Please CLICK HERE to learn more about CBD oil and drugs tests)
Since THC is illegal in many territories and it produces some negative effects, it is strongly advised that you use CBD oil with a very low or non-existent amount of THC.
There is some research that does show that THC does contain some benefits to certain conditions, such as seizures, anxiety and low appetite. However due to the side effects and the legality of THC, I strongly urge you to fully explore what CBD oil can do for you.
